Illumina
Overview

Illumina Technical Support invites you to join us to discuss the end-to-end workflow for a Metagenomics sequencing project. This webinar is ideal for new and intermediate users of Illumina Next Generation Sequencing with an interest in metagenomics.

We will discuss targeted metagenomics and shotgun metagenomics sequencing by including the following topics:

  • An overview of metagenomics
  • Introduction to experimental approaches
  • Library preparation strategies and considerations
  • Sequencing options
  • Run performance evaluation
  • High-level overview of data analysis

Please note, this is Part 1 of a 2-part Metagenomics Webinar series.

Francesca Lamante
Technical Applications Scientist,
Illumina

Francesca graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (RMIT) with a Master of Biotechnology (Major in Clinical Microbiology) in 2015.

She has since worked for a Genomics Sequencing Service provider and was responsible for many laboratory based processes, including but not limited to, the processing of Illumina Infinium Microarrays, Sanger sequencing, Genotyping-by-Sequencing, Diversity Profiling and the initialization of sequencing runs on Illumina’s instrumentations. To breach the gap between research and diagnostics, she proceeded to take on a Medical Scientist role for a Hospital’s Molecular Microbiology laboratory, whereby she was in charge of performing a range of assays to test for viral infections (including COVID-19 testing) and the reporting of results to clinicians. Francesca joined Illumina as a Technical Applications Scientist in May 2021 to provide technical support to the ANZ region.
