The next-generation sequencing (NGS) generates large volumes of data which can be converted into meaningful information via data analysis pipelines. This webinar is intended to introduce key data analysis and bioinformatics concepts used in analysis of Illumina sequencing data. The content of webinar is suitable for researchers who are new or intermediate to NGS data analysis and interested in Illumina analysis solutions.
We will discuss:
- Experimental design
- Key bioinformatics concepts such as FASTQ file, alignment, variant calling, de novo assembly and RNA Seq analysis
- Highlights of Illumina software tools.

Technical Applications Scientist,
Illumina
Yue obtained a PhD degree from La Trobe University in Molecular Biology. He had an extensive research experience in programmed cell death-controlled anther fertility study and mitochondrial retrograde regulation involved stress response using NGS methodology and analysis workflow as a post-doctoral fellow at ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology. After acquiring several years of commercial experiences in supporting academic and clinical researchers on qPCR, CE sequencing and NGS workflows, he joined Illumina as a Technical Application Scientist in August 2021. Yue currently supports instrumentation for all Illumina sequencing platforms as well as Illumina cloud and local bioinformatics solutions.
