NovaSeq X Series innovation roadmap

Future-ready: Built to accelerate performance and value

Your sequencer for today and tomorrow

The NovaSeq X Series innovation roadmap provides higher output, faster run times, and industry‑leading accuracy to deliver the best return on investment.

More data per run drives stronger operations and continually improving economics year after year. Welcome to a future-ready architecture with a clear roadmap of innovation, optimized for continuous improvements in flexibility, accuracy, and efficiency.

Timeline and performance are estimates and are subject to change.

Increase data output while maximizing efficiency

NovaSeq X Series output will increase by 40 percent, and a new 35B flow cell will be released, enabling larger and more complex studies on the same instrument.

The 10B flow cell will increase to 14 billion reads, and it will now have sequencing run times of 20–22 hours, representing a 30 percent average improvement in speed on WGS workflows.

Greater accuracy drives higher-quality, high-confidence data

The NovaSeq X Series is powered by XLEAP-SBS chemistry—an even faster, higher quality, and more robust version of our proven sequencing by synthesis (SBS) chemistry that delivers the highest level of data accuracy.

Soon, the platform will deliver up to a Q70 quality score for duplex sequencing and Q50 for simplex sequencing, enabling minimal residual disease (MRD) applications for oncology research with unmatched accuracy.

More ways to run, from short reads to proximity mapped reads

NovaSeq X Series will provide enhanced batching flexibility, longer reads, and new high-throughput modes, optimizing flow cell usage to improve read volume.

Available on all NovaSeq X Plus Systems, staggered starts, the ability to load a second flow cell asynchronously to a run, optimizes scheduling and maximizes productivity.

The NovaSeq X Series expands the limits of what's possible and powers the latest multiomics capabilities with mapped read technology, spatial transcriptomics, genome and methylome sequencing, and beyond.
